FAQ
Q: Which GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title are you attempting to break?
A: Largest gathering of people dressed as Star Wars Characters
Q: What is the current record (amount of people) you need to beat this GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title?
A: 800 people
Q: Who is the current record holder?
A: The record title for Largest gathering of people dressed as Star Wars characters has not been officially attempted before, so it truly is a world first! GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS set the minimum amount of people required to achieve the record at 800 based on the average numbers of participants from similar events. Think of it like a reserve on an auction.

A: Participant registration is from 2:00pm to 6:30pm. There will be live entertainment from 3:00pm with a special concert featuring Nerd-Rock Band Kirby Krackle, from 7:30pm. The “Official Attempt” will occur between 6:00pm and 7:00pm.

Q: What is considered a legitimate Star Wars costume, to be acceptable to the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS judges?
A: The Characters, Aliens, Creatures and Robots must appear in licenced Star Wars release (Disney Canon or Lucasfilm Legends Canon). This includes films, novels, comics, television series and games.
We encourage everyone to dress as close to a named character as possible or to a specific affiliation with the universe, aka Jedi Knight has a very specific look with their robes, hood, cloak, lightsaber, belt etc.
Full “Head to Toe” Costume.
The costume must be a full costume, including accurate footwear if all possible. Costumes will be judged based on whether a discernible effort has been made to try and match the characters to the best of your ability.
Where there are physical or other limitations to the ability to wear “head to toe” (such as a wheelchair or other mobility device, or medical equipment) this will be considered at the time of registration.
Store bought costumes are permitted, but must be the full costume to represent a character in the Star Wars universe, such as footwear and head dressings or masks.
Generic Jedi Knights, Sith Warriors and Custom Characters.
Generic Empire warriors, Jedi and Sith are allowed, but must be a full head to toe costume which is based on a character based in the Star Wars universe. You must be able to be immediately identified as a Stormtrooper, Jedi or Sith as depicted in the franchise.
Customization of an existing character is NOT permitted. This includes major colour variations from the existing source material. Example, no pink Stormtroopers.
We will not be accepting any mashup/crossover costumes, aka no “Darth Elmo” for example.
Star Wars Apparel and Other Merchandise.
Wearing a t-shirt, Star Wars cap, and simply holding a light saber will not be an acceptable costume for the Official Attempt.
Star Wars influenced designs for clothing like t-shirts, dresses and other licensed or unlicensed apparel is not permitted as they are not costumes representing characters from the Star Wars universe.
Where these items do represent an identifiable character, it will only be considered a costume if genuine effort has been made to complete the costume, “from head to toe” as outlined above. Bathrobes (official merchandise or otherwise) will be taken in context of the overall costume effort.
The final determination on validity will be at the discretion of the Independent Witness and the Official Adjudicator.
Q: What happens on the day of the attempt?
A: To participate in the attempt on the day will require you to be present at a specific location and be in costume for the required time.
You must register as a participant to be counted. You can register on behalf of other people (such as children) at the discretion of the registration team.
Registration will be open from 2:00pm to 6:30pm.
1. Come to the Guinness World Records Registration Table located in the Cosplay Theatre.
2. Provide us basic identification details (name, phone number)
3. We will take a photo of you in full costume (with your character name) for the record attempt counting and verification. It is at this time that the witnesses will assess the validity of your costume.
3. If approved, you will be issued with a specific wrist band which must be worn or presented for the attempt to verify that you have already registered, and to expedite entry in the official attempt zone at the requisite time.
We encourage early registration on the day..
Q: How does the count itself work?
A: The “Official Attempt” will occur between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. Prior to this time, all persons in the Cosplay Theatre will be cleared, so that when re-entry is done, we can be sure…
1. Every person that enters the “Official Attempt” zone is individually counted
2. That all persons that enter the zone have been registered
3. That all participants are assigned to a section under the supervision of a steward.
Make sure you turn up for the record attempt before 6:30pm and follow the instruction of the stewards at all times.
When the “Official Count” begins at 6:55pm, you must remain in your full costume for the entire five (5) minute duration or else you will be disqualified from the attempt. If more than 10% of participants are disqualified, the entire attempt is considered invalid.
Once the count has concluded, the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator, Witnesses and Stewards will review the documentation and will be able to provide us with an answer as to whether we have successfully broken the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title. This will occur approximately 7:30pm.
Q: What else is happening?
A: There will be Star Wars themed entertainment starting from 3:00pm in the afternoon on Friday 16th June, as well as live musical performances after the Official Attempt itself. Next to the theatre is the Interactive Star Wars Zone, with a huge display of props, costumes and sets, thanks to the 501st Garrison and supporting Star Wars groups.
And of course there’s all the fun and excitement of Supanova Comic Con and Gaming happening all around you!
